It is not the length of time spent in bed that is important, but the length and quality of sleep. If you only sleep for 7 hours, but with a minimum of nocturnal restlessness and sufficient REM and deep sleep, you can be more rested than a normal 8-hour sleeper.10
Biohackers use supplements such as ashwagandha or the hormone melatonin to increase the quality of sleep. Avoiding blue light a few hours before going to bed and a cool bedroom temperature are also techniques used.
