What is a Liquid Diet?

Any food that is consumed in liquid form can be referred to as a liquid diet. This includes soups, smoothies, drinks, and shakes, among others.

However, when we talk about a liquid diet in this article, we mean complete meal replacement drinks that can substitute a solid meal. These are offered either as a ready-to-drink shake or in powder form for self-mixing. Can You Live on a Liquid Diet Alone?

The last, not to be neglected, disadvantage of a liquid diet is that the social factor of "eating together" is lost. This only applies, of course, if you eat a liquid diet exclusively, which we do not recommend, or if you consume the main meals as liquid nutrition.
